Happy Birthday, Grandma

Happy Birthday, Grandma! Mommy and me love you very much.

And to celebrate your birthday this year, I went back through some of the family photos and found one of your parents with Mommy and Auntie Kristin. I think it is a great picture of everyone who loves you!

But, don't forget about me! I got my haircut today...just in time for your birthday tomorrow. You can definitely see my big brown eyes now!

Chores

I don't do any chores at home (although Mommy thinks I should), but I sure do enjoy doing them with Auntie Vicky when I stay the night at Day Camp.

I've Got My Eye On You

I have a hard time not being with Mommy. So, when she is in another room, I try and find a place where I can always keep an eye on what she is doing. Sometimes it is on my bed.

And sometimes it is in the couch.

But the thing I am having the hardest time with is when she is in the shower. At our old house I could always see here because the shower had glass doors. Now the shower has a "curtain" on it and I can't see her at all.

So, I usually stand right next to the shower and whine until Mommy pulls back the curtain so I can see her.

And then, I put my paws up on the side of the shower and peek in so I can see her. Mommy has not exactly been amused by this, but I feel much better that I can see her.

Sydney Goes to Camp

Sydney went to camp this week and I got to send her a few letters.

Apparently, the campers would get letters from their friends and family at dinner. Mommy thought it would be fun if I sent Sydney a couple of letter. I included pictures in mine, including one of me and Mommy.

Aunt Stacia sent a note to Mommy to say that Sydney really enjoyed my letters! And by the looks of it, she had a great time at camp.

Kisses for Mommy

Mommy and Me

The weather finally cleared late in the day yesterday and me and Mommy were able to spend some time outside.

First, Mommy went to the pool to read her magazine.

Then she came back and we headed out on the balcony to keep an eye on the goings on in the West End.

All in all, it was nice to finally get out and enjoy the weather.

Wild Weather Weekend

The weather here has been crazy this weekend. It started on Friday night. Mommy met some friends across the street for dinner. She and Auntie B came back here after dinner. On a side note, this is the first time Auntie B has been to our new place - and that I've met her. I really liked her.

Anyway, Mommy realized it was starting to rain and she told Auntie B she would drive her back to her car so she didn't have to walk in the rain. We all got into the elevator to head to the car when Mommy realized she had forgotten the car keys. So, she went back to the apartment to get them and realized they should not go anywhere. She told Auntie B they would be staying put.

It was dark as night outside and the wind was incredible. You can't see how the trees were bending over in this photo, but they were. In fact, a few trees were uprooted at the apartment building. Plus, we watched furniture fly off of balconies. It was wild.

Auntie B waited for the storm to pass before going home. We drove her to her car and realized the damage across the street at the restaurants. All the outdoor furniture had been blown around. The umbrellas were all tangled. Crazy.

Auntie B made it home OK, but she called Mommy to say that several big trees were down and there was localized flooding. She also said she didn't have power (and she doesn't live that far from us). She didn't get power until the following morning.

Mommy also learned that Jack did not have power either. They didn't get power until late in the day yesterday.

It is time for the rain to go away!

Jack Was Here

Jack came for a visit earlier this week. I was so excited to see him. He was - of course - a bit apprehensive when he saw me. I sometimes get so excited to see him that I think I scare him a little bit. But, Mommy held onto me and he eventually warmed up.

Anyway, Jack was so excited to come and see me. He told all of his friends at school that he was coming over. He even drew a map to our house. He said Mommy couldn't keep it because he would need it for the next time he came for a visit.

Jack liked the place a lot, but was a little confused about why Mommy and I moved to a new place. We told him it was because we wanted to be closer to where he lives. I know I'm excited about being closer to him.

We eventually decided to go out to dinner. Good thing that we live right across the street from so many restaurants. Mommy and Karla decided to go to Figlio. This was a big deal for me. I've never been to a restaurant and I was excited to go. Many of the restaurants across the street from where we live have outdoor seating. So, I can sit outside with Mommy to eat any time I want.

Anyway, Karla did some research before we went to see if they had something Jack might want to eat. He definately found something he liked. He got Cheeseburgers and Fruit.

It looked so good that I convinced Mommy to get me my very own Hamburgers and French Fries.

They were really good. And, we all had a great time. We even got to see former Senator Norm Coleman.

After dinner we went back home and played. I even chased Mommy around our new house. Jack thought that was pretty funny.

I hope Jack comes back soon. Next time maybe we can go to the Pool!

Comfy

Mommy thought this was pretty funny. In all the years I have walked across the "ottoman" to get from one couch to another, I've never taken a rest. Well, there is a first time for everything!

Happy Father's Day

To the man who told me to not sweat the small stuff, stand up for what I believe in and fuck 'em if they can't take a joke, I say thank you. Thank you for always supporting me when you questioned my judgement, for cheering me on from the sidelines (even though your back was turned - of course - because you couldn't stand to watch) and your undying devotion to my mother in her fight against true evil. You are the only man who has remained true to me. I love you. Happy Father's Day!

Father's Day Gift From Me

I got to pick out Grandpa's Father's Day gift this year. I think I did a pretty good job.

Grandpa sent Mommy a note and said it was BOLD! That means he really likes it.

Happy Father's Day, Grandpa.

Swiffer vs. Alligator

I'm not a fan of the Swiffer.

But, I am a fan  of my new Alligator treats. So much so that Aunt Kristin thinks I look like I have an Alligator face and I certainly have Alligator teeth when Mommy tries to take it away from me.

A Visit From the BFF

Stacia and Sydney came for a visit today! I was so excited to see them. I was even more excited when I discovered they brought gifts. Well, they brought me gifts from Murphy and Chloe!

I liked all of them. I'm particularly fond of the alligator (do you see it in the front of the picture). So much so, that I would growl at anyone who would try and take it away from me.

I continued to work on the alligator when Mommy, Sydney and Stacia went out to eat and then shopping. Mommy had a fun time with the girls. They tried on silly hair accessories.

And tried on lots of clothes at Hollister.

But the craziest thing they did was buy weird flavored lip balm. They waited till they got home to try them all out.

Mommy and Sydney had a great time...not all of them were good though. The winner was Cotton Candy.

I had a great day with the girls. Next time, I get to go to Sydney and Stacia's house and play with Murphy and Chloe.

Out for a Stroll

I've been out exploring my new neighborhood. It doesn't have as much green grass as the old place, but there still grass. But on thing that is different is all the dogs I see. I've been meeting them in the elevator, hallway and out on the sidewalk. I met a really cool dog last night - Lucy - when I was out for a midnight stroll. I think I'm going to like it here.

The Move

Mommy had been prepping me for weeks that we would be moving. But, I really didn't understand what that meant. I mean, the house wasn't looking so good. There was stuff everywhere (and Mommy is a neat freak so it was a surprise).

So, I woke up on Wednesday and Mommy said it was "the day." She took one last picture of me at the house and away I went.

Mommy sent me to day camp and to spend time with Auntie Vicki. I was totally cool with that.

Mommy spent her time managing the move to our new apartment. Daddy helped out a lot (Mommy was grateful). But, Mommy said it was a complete mess. And by the look of the picture below, it was.

Mommy got everything into place by Friday night, just in time to bring me to my new home.

I could tell things were different right away when we pulled into the new garage. There was no longer a bump (like the one at the house) to signal we were home. Then, we went down this ramp and made a few more turns before we parked. It looked different when Mommy opened the door to the car.

She set me on the ground and I was confused about where to go. Mommy said we had to ride the elevator. I didn't know what an elevator was, but it did not sound like something I was going to like.

I didn't like it. It was scary. It was a big box with no windows and it moved. I was so scared I spent much of the time hiding behind Mommy's legs.

When I got off the elevator, I had to walk down a long hall. We finally got to a door that Mommy opened and said "welcome home." It was not home to me. I didn't recognize anything. I spent the next few hours running from the front door to the back door (windows) trying to figure out where I was. The only thing I recognized was my "Grandma Quilt."

Mommy was worried because I just kept pacing back and forth and whining. I wouldn't eat or even go to the bathroom. Mommy finally had to bribe me with cheese to try and calm me down.

I eventually calmed down enough to go to bed. The bed was comfy.

But the moment I woke up, I was back to pacing the floor and whining. So, Mommy thought that taking me for a walk around the new neighborhood would be good. And, it was for a little bit. Things definitely looked different.

But, that didn't help much. So, Mommy thought that we should hang out on our balcony so I could get used to the new surroundings.

I must say I like all the activity. That will certainly keep me occupied!

I finally calmed down a bit late afternoon yesterday.

And then, I got my first visitor. Karla stopped by to see how we were getting along. I was so excited to see her that I kept jumping up on her! I was secretly hoping she would bring me back home (I was still very uncomfortable in my new home).

But, I was on my best behavior for Mommy. Karla liked the new place and thought it was very modern. Mommy gave her a tour of the building including the pool and Bocce Ball court (yes, we have one of those here).

I'm still a little leery of my new place, but as long as I am with Mommy I am sure that I will be just fine.
