The Big Apple and More...

Mommy is finally back from her back-to-back trips! She arrived home on Friday from New York City. I was so excited to hear about her trip.



Mommy has always wanted to go to NYC ever since she was a little girl, but she had never been. Although she was working, she was able to get out late a couple of nights to see the sights.

But, I should first tell you...Mommy has always wanted to ride in a NYC Taxi Cab. It has been one of her many dreams (I know, she is wierd, but just go with it). So, imagine her disappointement when she got in her first Taxi and it was a Mini-Van. But, that still didn't stop Mommy from getting all excited. Luckily, someone traveling with Mommy was able to document the experience. Here is Mommy riding in her first NYC Taxi Cab.



Mommy said she stayed in a hotel near Times Square (I know where this is becuase this is where they drop the "ball" on New Year's Eve). Mommy said she walked into Times Square late one night after finishing some work in her room. I think she is crazy for doing that, but she said it was fun. She was amazed by how many people and how much traffic there was at 11:00 p.m. at night. But, she was able to do one of her favorite things...shopping. She said the stores stay open until Midnight. Can you believe it?









Mommy said she spent most of her day at the convention center. She was there working for her company. But, she wanted to try and experience as much as she could on her limited schedule. So, one of her co-workers was kind enough to take her on her first subway ride. Mommy was so excited. She said she had to walk several blocks from the convention center to the subway station (and without a coat...and I know it was cold). But, she was just excited to have been able to have the experience. She didn't have her camera with her that day, so I can't show you what it was like. So, I will just have to take her word for it. She said she didn't see any of the famous subway rats, but a few of her co-workers did when they took the subway to their destinations.

Mommy said her work wrapped-up on Thursday afternoon. So, she and her co-workers decided to have dinner together in Little Italy. So, they all took a Cab to Little Italy for dinner. Mommy said that the cab ride was the one she had always imagined. She said the driver was driving so fast and them slamming on his breaks that she was worried her friends would get sick. Mommy said he almost ran over a bike rider and didn't seemed concenrned at all. Mommy was happy for the ride to end. But, she was able to see a few more sites on the way...Macy's in Harold Square, Bryant Park, the Garmet District, and more.

When they arrived in Little Italy she said that they began to walk down the street with several restaurants. She said men would come out from the restaurants and try and convince them to eat in their restaurant. She said it was really fun. Here are a few pictures she took.

After dinner, Mommy and a couple of her co-workers went down to Canal street to see if they could find "knock-offs" of some of their favorite handbags. I won't tell you what they found, but Mommy seemed very pleased when she returned home!

After the shopping experience, Mommy dropped-off one of her friends at the hotel and she went out to see Rockefeller Center with one another co-worker. Along they way, they passed Radio City Music Hall.





They also went by the skating rink and the Today Show set.







Mommy told Daddy she wants to go back to NYC when she isn't working so she can really get a taste for the city. Mommy did bring some souveniers home to remind her of her first expereince (an I Love NY shirt and one with a bunch of Taxi cabs on it).

But, her week did not end there. Daddy got a message from Mommy's friend Karla to see if they would want to join Karla and her boyfriend Tim at the St. Paul Winter Carnival on Saturday. Karla said she wanted to see the ice sculpters and visit the Hot Dish tent. The Hot Dish tent? Mommy and Daddy agreed to go just because they wanted to see what was in the Hot Dish tent.









This was Mommy and Daddy's favorite ice sculptur. It is entitled "And We're Off." It is based-off the Wizard of Oz (one of Mommy's all-time favorite movies). If you look really close, you can see Toto the dog (he is little like me).







And, Mommy and Daddy did confirm there was a Hot Dish tent. Mommy said it was just like a beer tent, but with Hot Dish instead (although they were serving Beer, Wine and Hot Chocolate). Mommy and Daddy had some Tater Tot Hot Dish and Hot Chocolate. Now, if that doesn't say Minnesota winter, I don't know what does.






I was so excited to see Mommy and Daddy when they got home. But, you know what, Karla and Tim came over to play with me too! They were really nice and I hope they come back to visit me soon.



Oh, and before I forget, I want to give a shout-out to our neighbor Karen. She came over to play with me while Daddy had to run erands on Monday. Thank you!

My Week with Daddy...

Hi everyone! I spent the entire week with Daddy. Mommy was in San Diego on a business trip. I was sad that Mommy was not here with Daddy and I. I have been sleeping on Mommy's side of the bed since she left :-).

Daddy was also very busy with work this week, but he made plenty of time to play fetch with me. I got a new toy from Katrina for Christmas. Daddy heats it up in the microwave. He says it is supposed to make me feel better when he and Mommy can't be around (don't tell him - but he doesn't have to heat it up...I really like the sound my new toy makes...and heating it up doesn't change anything for me). But, I mostly like to play fetch with my new toy.

Daddy and I did lots of laundry while Mommy was gone. As you know, this is one of my favorite activites to do with Mommy (Daddy doesn't fold the clothes as well as Mommy - but he is learning).

We also got a new storm door...whatever that is. All I know is that I wanted to make all of the pounding stop. The installers made quite the noise. But, it looks really nice. And, when Daddy opens the front door, I can see my friends (Carter and Connor) across the street.

Oh - I should tell you that Mommy came home briefly last night. She was able to spend 12 hours with Daddy and I before she had to fly to her next destination...New York City. Mommy is going to be gone even longer than last week...that makes me sad. But, I am happy for Mommy. She has never been to New York City and is very exicted to finally be able to live out her life long dream of riding in a New York City taxi cab. I told Mommy to take lots of pictures so I can share them with all of you next week.

OH - and I bet you are wondering why I have no pictures to post this week. Well, you can blame Daddy for that. Mommy told him to take lots of me...but he forgot. So, you will all have to wait until next week (that's OK...hopefully Mommy will have lots of photos from NYC so I can share them with you).

My Week in Review

My week started out with a bath. As you all might know, this is not one of my favorite activities. Although, as I grow older, I don't mind it as much anymore. Mommy and Daddy said I did great.





Daddy was home this week. I like it best when Mommy and Daddy are both home with me. Daddy says that he won't have to travel for a couple of weeks. But, he did say that Mommy was going to be traveling. I don't know for how long, but I hope its not too long. I miss her when she isn't here.

Mid-week, Daddy took me on a little field trip. Daddy needed to get me some more of my peanut butter bones and decided to take me with him. I was so excited when we got to the store (it is a familar place - since I went to puppy class there). I got to run up and down the aisles and meet lots of new dogs and people. Everybody kept asking Daddy if they could pet me because I was sooooooo cute (I know).

Then, the best part of my week was yesterday! Mommy and Daddy didn't tell me they were having people over. So, I was surprised when the door bell rang and there was Mommy's friend Carrie and her baby Belle! I hadn't met Belle yet, but I had heard a lot about her. She was so little - but so cute! Her Mommy let me lick her little fingers (I was gentle, I didin't want to hurt the baby).



I was even more surprised when Mommy's friend Kira came to the door. Katrina had finally come back to visit me (remember, she came to see me when I was little). Katrina and I played a lot. She even liked to walk me on my leash.





Mommy's friends had come to exchange Christmas presents (another Christmas, I could hardly believe my luck...I like all of the paper and bags...a lot).

I was so tired from all of the excitement that I went right to sleep after Katrina and Belle went home.

A Wild Week

Happy New Year Everyone!

I turned 6-months old on Wednesday! But, no one was here to celebrate with me. Mommy had to go back to work - and Daddy had to go to San Diego on business. I was really sad. Mommy and Daddy had been home together for almost two weeks that I was beginning to think it was becoming a permanent arrangement. But, all my hopes were dashed when Daddy left on his trip (after Mommy left for work).

When Mommy got home, she found the laundry room a little "trashed." Yes, I admit it, I went a little crazy. I shredded everything I could find. It took Mommy some time to get it out of my hair. I don't think she was really happy. She told me that everything was going to be fine. Daddy was going to be gone a few days and that she had to go to work. Mommy thought she made me feel better, but I was still sad.

So, I did it again the next day. And, it was even worse than the day before. This time, Mommy took pictures to show Daddy (and now I am showing them to you). I know Mommy and Daddy would love to be here with me all of the time - but I know that can't. I was just really sad.







Friday was much better. Mommy left CNN on for me so I could learn about the Iowa Caucus results (my cousin Jackson sent me a message about it the day before). When Mommy got home, everything was fine. And, a few hours later, Daddy arrived home from his trip! I am so excited to have them both back in the house with me.
