Hi everyone. Today is mother's day. So, I want to say thank you to my Mommy for loving me so much (and helping me with the blog every week). Also, I want to say Happy Mother's Day to Grandma McHugh. I hope she liked the book I sent her (she should...all picture of me!)

Did you know that today is the 150th birthday of the State of Minnesota? That's right, the place where I live, Minnesota, is 150 years old today. Who knew?

Mom and Dad sure didn't. They went to the Minnesota History Center today to see something called the Declaration of Independence (apparently is is very important to this country, but I haven't learned about this yet). Anyways, while Mommy and Daddy were there, they found out that Minnesota turned 150 today (funny, on the same day as Mother's Day). Anyways, Mommy and Daddy waited over an hour to see a copy of the Declaration of Independence.

The copy that Mommy and Daddy saw is called the Dunlap Broadside. It is said that on the evening of July 4, 1776, 12 of the 13 colonies reached agreement to declare the new states a free and independent nation (New York didn't vote). John Hancock, President of the Continental Congress, ordered Philadelphia printer John Dunlap to print broadside copies of the Declaration of Independence that he and Secretary Charles Thomson had signed. It is thought that Dunlap printed round 200 broadside copies to be distributed to the members of Congress and throughout the colonies. Only 25 of the original 200 copes are known to be in existence. The one Mommy and Daddy saw today was discovered in 1989 by a man who purchased a painting for $4 at a flea market because he was interested in the frame. Behind the backing of the frame was a Dunlap - which was later auctioned for $8 million in 2000. I think it is pretty cool, since I just got done watching the John Adams mini-series with Mom and Dad (so I do know a little about this).
This is a lot to celebrate in one day, but I must confess, one other big mystery was solved today. You see, sometimes when Mommy and Daddy come home, they find my food dish in the middle of the floor with one of my favorite toys in the middle.

Mommy and Daddy thought I did it when I was mad at them for leaving me. But, that is not the case at all. You see, I rarely eat my food out of my bowl. I like my food to start off in the bowl, but I require that Mom or Dad place pieces of my food around my bowl for eating. Once I eat all on the floor, I run back and look to them to put down more. So, when Mommy and Daddy are gone and they leave me food, they don't put it on the floor for me. This frustrates me. So, I have to use a little of my muscle to get my food out of my bowl. So I push it as hard as I can around the floor until food falls out. I take my toy with me because sometimes he helps me get the food out. When I am done, I just put my toy there for safe keeping until Mommy and Daddy get home. But, this morning was different. Dad wanted me to eat out of my bowl and I didn't want to. So, he watched me as I tried hard to get my food out of the bowl. Now, Mommy and Daddy know the real truth. I guess I can't use that trick on them anymore.
Anyways, everything is good here. Mommy's big project she has been working on at work finished today! She is very happy and wants me to tell all of those involved that she is thankful for all of their help.
