Just Another Saturday

We have a routine in our house on Saturday. Upon waking, Mommy finishes the laundry she starts a day earlier. Sometimes she cleans, but lately she gets ready to run errands because she has discovered that if she goes to the places she needs to get to outside of the city earlier,  the less people and traffic there is coming back into the city.

Me? I just relax.

Once Mommy returns, she gives me a treat, unpacks the stuff she got and then heads back out to run the errands in the City. Mommy walks a lot and stops at many different places before coming home.

But the best part of the day is when Mommy gets home and spends the rest of the day with me.

I'm Home

While Mommy and Auntie Kristin were surprising Grandpa Mac, I was busy playing with all my friends. I had a great time. And I can assure Mommy everyone took good care of me and my friends. You see, there's an outbreak of canine flu in Chicago and lots of places have had to close not mine. They clean a lot and make sure all dogs are healthy.

Anyway,  Mommy learned that the staff let's me have dinner with them because I won't eat the food they leave in my cubby. And even when I eat with the staff I find ways to get them to really feed me. I actually eat out of their hands. Mommy told them I was just manipulating them. Maybe I am.

I did get a haircut before I left, but I ran through the water before Mommy picked me up so I didn't exactly look my best.

Now I'm home, resting.

Surprise!

Auntie Kristin and Mommy concocted a scheme to surprise Grandpa for his birthday. They each boarded a plane in Illinois yesterday (90 minutes apart). Mommy had a bit more trouble navigating the long security lines at O'Hare.

They met each other at the Houston airport and got into a car, drove to the Party store to get balloons (all part of the plan).

They got so many balloons they also t didn't fit into the car.

They got to Grandma and Grandpa's house,  but had to be sneaky. All the balloons were meant to cover the peep hole and windows on the door so Grandpa couldn't see them. Mommy couldn't get a picture of Grandpa's reaction, but it was priceless she says. He was surprised. And he was surprised Grandma knew about the surprise.

But the surprises didn't end there. Ian, Janet and Buddy drove from San Antonio to say happy Birthday and see Mommy!

A good time was had by all.
