Turkey Day and Black Friday All in One

Mommy and I had a great Thanksgiving. Mommy had lunch with her friends Katya and Kathryn at Shaw's. Mommy said the buffet was incredible and highly recommends it (apparently they do it every Sunday) for anyone who is in Chicago.

Then, Mommy came home and picked me up to go to Auntie Rachel's for dinner. I was so excited to see Rachel. I've been to her house before, so I'm pretty comfortable there. Plus, I like her cats. I also got to meet her Mom and Dad.

We had cheese, turkey, pear salad, roasted vegetables, potatoes, squash and homemade cranberries. Mommy brought the dessert.

After dinner, we played cards and watched football. I was really tired when I got home. Mommy was convinced it was because I ate too much turkey.

And then, Black Friday. Can you believe it? Mommy didn't see any of the ads and she didn't get out of bed early to go shopping.She eventually went out and ran some errands and picked up a few Christmas presents. She said she had to wait in line at the Banana Republic for about 25 minutes. I sure hope the sale there was good enough to wait for that long.

But surprisingly, Costco was not busy and Mommy got in and out in 15 minutes. That's why Mommy is smiling. Usually she has to wait a long time in line.

We've had a great start to the holiday season. Oh, and I hear that our Christmas Card has arrived. I'll share it with you in a future post.

Gobble Gobble

Today is Turkey Day. Otherwise known as Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is a holiday where we give thanks. Today, I'm thankful for all our family and friends who have supported me and Mommy through our journey. We had to face a big bump in the road earlier this year and we couldn't have gotten through it without the love of our family and the loyalty of our friends.

But let's face it, I'm most thankful for the woman above. My Mommy. She is the best Mommy anyone can have. She gives me treats, she lets me sleep in her bed, she takes me for long walks, she lets me play with my friends, she takes me for car rides, but most of all, she loves me.

It's Beginning to Look a lot like Christmas

Mommy had a run a few errands today and she noticed that the Macy's on State Street has already revealed their holiday windows.

Mommy was very underwhelmed by the windows :-(. But, she really liked the Pinball machine window.

Indoor Dog Run

The apartment where we live has a new Indoor Dog Run. The outdoor one is now closed and will not reopen. They are turning it into an ultra luxe outdoor lounge for the young kids that live in our building.

So we four-legged apartment dwellers get regulated to the garage.

I'm not impressed and not a fan. The plus is that it is indoor (and heated) so I can go out everyday if I want. But, it is so, so small and I don't have a cool view of the city.

Mommy talked to a few other dog owners who were just as confused as Mommy. Who thought this was a good idea???

A Sunday Stroll Along the River

Two new parts of the River Walk opened a few weeks ago. After all the Cubs hoopla, Mommy and I finally had time to take a look.

I finally got to see The Mart from another angle.

Most of the buildings you see from this view were just starting construction when we moved to the city a few years ago.

And, there's this really big stretch of grass (a grassy knoll). I really liked playing the grass, plus I got to meet a lot of puppies.

You can't beat the view.

 I'm happy Mommy took me!

A Celebration Fit for Champions

The Cubs World Series celebration has continued. The Merchandise Mart had a huge congratulations sign hanging in their entry way on Thursday morning (wow, that was fast).

And on Friday, the city had a huge celebration to honor the team.

They dyed the river blue in honor of the Cubs (first time in history). Mommy saw it live.

Pretty cool, right?

Well that wasn't all. There was a huge parade and celebration in Grant Park. Only thing is that 5,999,999 of Mommy's friends also thought it would be a good idea to come and celebrate with the Cubs too. That made it impossible to get anywhere near the celebration.

But Mommy and Rachel sure did their best to try.

But no luck,

But the very best part of the day was Mommy was able to get Grandpa a Cubs World Series Champions shirt to him in Texas before the start of the parade. I can honestly say I've never seen Grandpa so happy. And pretty sure Grandpa Mac was the only person in the Houston area that had one of these!

A fun fact: The Cubs World Series Celebration ranks as the 7th largest gathering of people of all time. Can you believe it? And I was in the city for it - and Mommy was in it! How cool is that?
