For many years, I traveled the fist few weeks of January on business. That stopped with the start of the global pandemic.
But 2022 looked like it would be different. An in-person meeting was scheduled for the first week of January. I knew early on and began to panic when I realized that I would have to leave Cosmo. I was worried because I knew Cosmo was no longer himself and wasn’t sure how he’d get along with his friends where I used to board him.
Today was the day that I was to get on an airplane for the first time in 22 months. The in-person meeting was cancelled due to the dramatic rise in COVID cases thanks to the omicron variant (kudos to my company for making the decision that put employees first to help them remain healthy). While I’m not traveling, I still remember all the times where I’d pack for a trip and Cosmo would give me the look of “no, please don’t leave again” or where he’d hop into my suitcase when I’d return home to “smell” where I’d been.
