Day 304 - COVID-19 2021

Today started out like any other. Mommy rising early, taking a shower, getting my needs ready for the day (water, food, etc), checking on email from overnight, reading the news, getting ready, making tea and chicken. She got to the office a few minutes behind today only because she was putting the clean dishes away.

I assume my position and Mommy begins her meeting. As lunch roles around, Mommy awakes me from my slumber and takes me out for what I think will be a walk. In reality, I realized we were going to the car. And then, I freaked. I stopped dead in.my tracks. Mommy had to carry me to the car. I get more nervous at every turn the car makes, thinking I’m going back to the place that made me feel pain. Instead, I was going to the groomer.

In reality, that wasn’t bad, but boy did I make Mommy think I’d never be able to get in the car again. My groomer took great care of me and I must admit, made me feel fresh and new!

Once I got home, I ran right out of the elevator, pulling Mommy down the hall. Mommy thought I needed to go potty, instead I wanted a treat for being such a good boy. I just wanted chicken (which Mommy gave me a lot of).

Now I’m resting comfortably.

Mommy assures me I won’t need any work for awhile. I sure hope so. I am tired of being poked and prodded.

And now, the statements.

Day 303 - COVID-19 2021

It’s terrific Tuesday. Not much to report today, so just cute pictures of me, Mommy and the statements.

Day 302 - COVID-19 2021

It’s Monday and that means back to work (for Mommy that is). I caught up on my sleep (my nights are most people’s days).

I’m feeling my like myself and am back to eating (I’ve got a good appetite).I heard Mommy making a grooming appointment for me this week. I’m looking a bit scruffy and lord knows I need a pick-me-up after last week. So, I’ll go with. Mommy promises me they won’t be working in my mouth (and I’m grateful for that).

Finally, the statements of the day.

Day 301 - COVID-19 2021

Sunday funday! It was a quiet Sunday I. Our house. We were up early. Mommy did more chores, worked a little bit, read a little bit and watched some footballs (Bears didn’t fare so great).

The Framily got together for dinner tonight .

And Mommy made a cold-weather statement today because they were supposed to sit outside. But they got sat inside near windows...so they didn’t need to bundle up as much as they did.L

Day 300 - COVID-19 2021

Today was more relaxing than the last few hours of yesterday. I can assure you it was not a shit show.

Mommy cleaned the house and has been working to clean everything I’ve been laying on since coming home from surgery. She wanted to make sure I didn’t bleed or throw up on anything (as she is a crazy clean freak). I’m happy to report I’ve done none of those things.

We went for a walk, but it took forever. The building is having elevator problems again and with COVID limiting the number of people on the elevator, well things moved very slow (because only one elevator was working).

Mommy met Auntie Rachel for lunch. She was going stir crazy at home, so they went dining outdoors (only a heat lamp, so it was extra chilly).

After, they made a detour to Nordstrom  to pick up some things for Rachel.

Finally, the statements of the day.

Day 299 - COVID-19 2021

Welcome to the shit show. literally.

But before I get to that, in my defense I want to say today was going really well. I slept through the night after I got down and had my dinner in the middle of the night. I got up and had chicken (part of my regular routine) and I slept while Mommy worked. I even had a visitor today. My favorite maintenance worker in our building stopped by today to fix the garbage disposal.

And then, it happened. I. All fairness, I don’t really know how it happened, but it did. Mommy had ordered dinner and was catching up on the news of the day. I had assumed my position on my couch and fallen asleep. I woke up and began to move around when Mommy noticed what she thought was poop hanging from my butt. It was. It was like I pooped in my sleep and I didn’t know it. Mommy immediately puts me on the floor and gets some toilet paper to start cleaning me up. She also notices I still have some stuck in my butt. She tries to dig it out (by this point she has gloves on). She isn’t making progress when they call to let her know her dinner has arrived. She runs downstairs to get her dinner. She comes back up and realizes I’ve gone potty (pee), but still have poop hanging from my butt. By this time, I expect Mommy to give me chicken. She does. I eat it along with more of my regular food. I go to the bathroom when I’m finished eating and needless to say, I poop everywhere. Remember, I am pad trained, so  it least poop on my pads. But it is a lot. At least I don’t have poop Mommy had to dig out any more. But, I still had poop on my tail and around my but from before.

So, Mommy puts me in the bathtub and starts to clean me. But it is not working well. So, she proceeds to put me in the kitchen sink where the sprayer on the faucet is better - and more reliable - at cleaning me up.

I wasn’t too happy about any of this.

When Mommy was done, she wrapped me in a towel to dry and then got out the comb and my “cologne” to help me get all fresh again.

Now, it truly has been a shit show this evening. But cut me some slack. I’ve had a pretty rough week. The good news is I’m drinking, eating peeing and pooping normally. The bad news is that I’ve been a bit lazy when it comes to taking care of business.

Things are all better now, but Mommy has been in overdrive cleaning this evening and washing all the blankets and towels she used on me.

I’ll leave you with the statements of the day.

Day 298 - COVID-19 2021

Day 2 post surgery. I’m doing better.

I’ve had more to eat, including my regular food (not just chicken) and water. I’ve been up and moving around more, but still getting a healthy amount of sleep. I still have to have  medicine (which I don’t like), but I don’t appear to have any pain (although Mommy is still giving me medicine for the pain).

Mommy has had a very busy day. She’s been in a meeting she would usual travel for. And all of that on top of trying to get me to eat, get medicine and go potty. Mommy doesn’t know how parents in this pandemic have been doing it (and gives them major props).

Mommy also thought it might be good for me to go out for a walk. And I was so excited when she asked (also another indicator I’m feeling better).

Finally, the statements of the day. Remember, wear a mask. We are not out of this yet and we need to do everything we can to keep each other safe and healthy.
