Today was a beautiful summer day.
Mommy and I went fot a long walk. There were more people out and about today. That's because the City was peaceful yesterday so they decided to let more traffic into out area today. They even announced the end of the curfew. We are cautiously optimistic that thr mood in thr City will remain peaceful.
The Framily was able to get together for a picnic in the park...the one they planned for last week, but had to cancel because of the unrest. They all brought items that were individually wrapped, and lots of spoons and paper plates for some shareable items so they could try lots of things. And they did socially distance. When they couldn't, they put their pasks on.
Mommy says her Framily photo selfie game is a bit off, but she'll get it together as they're able to spend more time together.

Day 83 - COVID-19 2020
Today was a tough day for me. Today Mommy spent more time away from me than she has in three months. More things are opening in the City. I think that is positive, but that means Mommy might spend more time apart from me.
Mommy finally got her nails done after 12 weeks (to the day). Mommy wasn't sure if they'd open as they sustained some damage from the disturbance last weekend. But, they were open. Mommy had to take a health questionnaire and have her temperature taken before she could get her nails done. Mommy was totally fine with it. Also, they've modified all the stations to make sure there are barriers in place between you and the technician (and other patrons).
But Mommy didn't get pampered until she got all the chores done. Me, I just observed.
Oh, and Mommy was able to catch up with Linda, Fernando and Rachel today. Linfa had a hard time finding a patio, but when in doubt call TGI Friday's.
Rachel and Mommy were also able to find sanitizing wipes at Walgreens. And on the way home, they saw the National Guard.
Finally, the statement of the day.

Day 81 - COVID-19 2020
Day 2 - Phase 3. Mommy was able to take one of her business meetings in person today. Not in the office, but at a colleague's home and still respecting socially distant rules. It was great for both of them, not to mention more human contact for Mommy.
But for me, I was sad. I've gotten so used to Mommy being with me all the time that it is hard when she is not with me.
Mommy did find the National Guard. They are just right down the street.
Mommy still made me a priority and we were able to go on our daily long walk.
But boy I'm glad she is home for the night and cuddled up with me in bed.

Day 80 - COVID-19 2020
Today marked Phase 3 in Chicago, where more businesses and restaurants began to open. Today also marks Linda's birthday. Rachel was able to.get a reservation for the steakhouse next to outr building (which remained untouched from the violence the past several days). Linda got her wish; for someone else to make her a drink.
They agreed they acted like savages. Like they hadn't eaten in months. They were just happy to be together.
I hung out with Mommy all day, but was sad when she left for dinner.
But she promptly took me out for.our walk when she got home.

Day 79 - COVID-19 2020
Today has been calm. And so far, we have not been notified of a curfew or stoppage of public transportation. Additionally, the Mayor confirmed that Phase 3 opening will go on as planned tomorrow. Mommy and the girls are trying to plan something because it also happens to be Linda's birthday!
Mommy and I got out for our walk today. Many of thr restaurants were not open for business today, but were making final preparations to be tomorrow. This was encouraging. Also, some have gotten creative with their new window coverings.
This is all Mommy snapped of me today. She's been super busy with work these past few days.
Today's statement was colorful.

Day 78 COVID-19 2020
Last night was a bit more quiet than the night before, but there were a few tense hours with police in riot gear on the corner of the street one block north of us. Overall, last night seemed far more peaceful.
I spent the day catching up on sleep while Mommy worked (it is Monday after all).
Finally, she got one without my tongue, but she somehow caught me without my tongue out. But, we both agree this is not exactly the best picture of me.

I really do love my new bed. It is so comfy - and warm. And don't forget stylish.
I did not make it esay for Mommy to take a good photo of me today. I just kept my tongue out.

The protests have started again. A very large group of peaceful protesters - followed by a number of police officers on bikes, foot and cars - came by around 5:30. Mommy was pretty sure we wouldn't go for our walk. She just wants to keep me safe.
Well, I begged her and she relented. I was truly shocked by what I saw. Every business was boarded up. Mommy noticed that the graffiti had been removed from the buildings. But, there was still glass all around and I had to be very careful where I walked. Also, I noticed how few people were out and about. As we have been in lock down due to the virus, we still saw a number of people out walking, playing with their pets, etc. Not today. It was almost way too quiet.
My hope is that tonight it will stay quiet and we'll be able to get some sleep (I've been worried about Mommy so I haven't slept a lot during the night. Mommy has been worried about me, so she hasn't been sleeping much either).
But I'll give Mommy credit, she still makes it a priority to put her best "face" forward during the work week. This is today's statement.
