Vacation for the Two of Us

Mommy went on vacation this week - and so did I.

I was really proud of Mommy for making the decision to take some downtime and to go somewhere fun - and new - on vacation.

Mommy went to Puerto Rico. She sure took a small amount of luggage for such a long plane ride and trip.

Anyway, she spent much of the time exploring Old San Juan, visiting the sites, walking the streets, looking at architecture and shopping for jewelry.

She also spent a little time at the pool and reading books.

All in all she had a great trip. Enough about her. Now about me.

The start to my vacation wasn't the best. I wasn't so nice to another dog, but I quickly recovered.

I attended a Fourth of July bash and played with all my friends (and Auntie Vicky of course).

Then I got a great surprise. Jack and Karla stopped by for a visit.

It was so great seeing them. I was so excited that I thought I was going home. But, they told me they were just checking on me so they could share how I was doing with Mommy. They said I would be going home in a few days.

Then, Mommy came to pick me up today! I was waiting in the same place as I was when Jack and Karla came for a visit.

I'm so happy to be home and back in the arms of my Mommy.

A Trip to Germany...Sorta

I was so excited when Stacia, David and Sydney stopped by for a visit today! I got to show them all the new artwork that Tim and Karla hung up and the new chair.

I also got to play with Sydney. Playing with her is so much fun.

They were in town to celebrate David's birthday and he wanted to go to the German restaurant. David spent many years in Germany when he was younger and he was craving it.

Of course, they invited Mommy to join them at the Black Forest Inn. For Mommy, it was a whole new experience. She has never had German food before.

First, Mommy and Sydney had to try Spatzi, a german cola (basically a mixture of Fanta and Coca-Cola). Mommy and Sydney really liked it (Mommy's face is priceless).

Then, the feast. They all had different dishes. David had the Sauerbraten, Stacia had the Bratwurst, Sydney had the Rouladen and Mommy had theStroganoff. They all tried each others and Mommy said it was really good. And you know what, Mommy got to try the spatzel. The spatzel at the Black Forest has even been featured on the Food Network.

To finish the meal, they had the Black Forest Cherry Torte and Sacher Torte.

Looks yummy, right?

Mommy had a great time. And, I think David, Stacia and Sydney did too.

But, they weren't done. On the way back to the car, they saw a "donut shop" and decided to stop.

Mommy said it was a really cute place and the donuts look pretty darn awesome. Mommy can't wait to hear what Sydney thinks tomorrow morning after she has them for breakfast.

The Chair

We finally got our last piece of furniture for the new apartment today! Well, Mommy got it a long time ago, but she didn't like the standard fabric the chair came in, so she had the furniture store make cover it with another fabric to match the couches.

I must say I really like it. And, it is pretty darn comfortable.

But all the excitement really wore me out.

Thank goodness Mommy got her nails done today so I could spend time napping.

Das Boat

Yes, it is that time of year when Mommy, Karla, Tim and Tom get together on Lake Minnetonka for a day of boating, food and the inevitable sunburn.

I'm happy to report that Mommy didn't get as burned as she has in the past. I think the new hat helped.

Happy Birthday, America!

This week we celebrated America's birthday. I got to hang out with Mommy most of the day. We got to sit outside on the balcony for awhile (one of my new favorite things).

Mommy headed to Auntie Bernadette's place for a late afternoon barbecue. Mommy saw our neighbors, Pablo and Monica, at Auntie B's. They asked about me and told Mommy that I occasionally bark when they walk by, but not all the time (I'm working on it). Mommy was glad to hear that it wasn't all the time.

Mommy couldn't stay long because Jack's Mommy and Daddy were coming over to hang all of our artwork in our new apartment. The place looks so nice now.

Then, Karla and Tim called Jack. He was at his Grandma and Grandpa's house. And you know what, he asked about me. He said hello and I said hello back. It was almost like he was here!

Mommy, Karla and Tim then headed out for a late dinner.

After dinner, they headed to the fireworks in their traditional place...the Macy's parking lot at Southdale Mall.

A good time was had by all.
